Lessons typically begin with exercises to warm-up the voice or address some aspect of singing that the student wishes to work on.
Elements from the vocalises are then applied to repertoire.

"With both our schedules involving travel, there have been times when the only way to have a singing lesson with Jocelyn was over the telephone. When Jocelyn first suggested it, I was intrigued because I love to try new things. I was amazed at how natural it felt and at how much fun we had! I prefer to use a headset telephone because it carries my voice without distortion and leaves my hands and arms free. I'm grateful that we have found this alternative and I would recommend it to anyone."

"I took phone lessons with Jocelyn every other week for about a year when she was dividing her time between Los Angeles and New York. I wasn't sure what to expect but she was able to hear what was happening with my voice and even seemed to be able to sense what was happening in my body, such as where I was holding tension. I continued to improve steadily over that time and would recommend phone lessons to anyone who is unable study with Jocelyn in person."
